Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with results so bad.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
