Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
