Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-year spell that included a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait since 1990, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed the league title in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side in England. Therefore in case it's my former club...yes. It's plausible.”
“Being 58, so the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to the dugout, he confessed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be in the rain through long matches; No need for media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, that’s nice. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood at the club. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear for example.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, praising him due to the changes that took the title in the previous season. Liverpool have lost a string of losses across various tournaments post heavy investment, though he denied the suggestion of it representing the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, along with the consequences for the team. The Portugal international died tragically in a vehicle collision alongside his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. I find it difficult to discuss about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
