The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder contributed to the Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their first championship series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the anticipated championship.
"It's incredible for this squad, our city, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, making him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment other than George Springer with his October magic," said Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the early in the series, remain the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he continued.
The Blue Jays claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
