Trump Invites Families of Shot National Guard Personnel to the White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Devastating Event

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Reaction

Mourners came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Government Revisions

Officials have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The event caused the government to pause asylum applications and cease providing visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
