Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Passed Away in a Los Angeles Traffic Collision

The visionary game developer, the mind behind the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a vehicle crash in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The celebrated industry figure died after his car crashed and caught fire on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"We are facing a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's family, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his creative vision," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
